Empowering Gender Equality/ Norway’s Civil Society Programme for Albania and Kosovo

In a significant stride towards promoting gender equality and combating gender-based violence, Norway’s Civil Society Programme for Albania and Kosovo was officially launched this afternoon. Implemented by Partners Albania for Change and Development and generously funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina, this initiative heralds a new chapter in the fight for women’s rights in the region.

At the heart of this program lies a year-long intervention led by none other than Iris Luarasi, director of the Counseling Line for Women and Girls (CLWG), with the steadfast support of Lorena Bregaj. Together, they stand at the forefront of efforts to empower women and girls, envisioning a future where gender equality is not just a dream but a lived reality.

During the launch event, Iris Luarasi presented the CLWG’s intervention, which aims to tackle gender-based violence head-on while championing the cause of gender equality in Albania. With a clear vision and unwavering determination, Luarasi outlined the objectives of the program, emphasizing the need for tangible results that make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls across the country.

The presence of the Norwegian Ambassador at the meeting underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing the cause of gender equality. As Norway extends its hand in partnership, the CLWG and its dedicated team express their full dedication to achieving lasting change in the areas of gender equality and anti-discrimination.

Indeed, this program represents more than just a funding initiative—it is a beacon of hope for countless women and girls who continue to face systemic barriers and entrenched discrimination. Through targeted interventions and strategic partnerships, the CLWG, under the leadership of Iris Luarasi and with the support of Lorena Bregaj, aims to shatter these barriers and pave the way for a more equitable and inclusive society.

As the program takes flight, the CLWG and its partners remain committed to their mission, knowing that the journey towards gender equality is both challenging and rewarding. With the support of Norway and the dedication of all involved, they march forward with unwavering resolve, determined to create a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence and discrimination.
