Driselda Kanina is the charming singer, who for 3 years has entered the hearts of the Albanian public with her presence on stage and screens. Kanina has just launched her latest music video “Hopa, djalo”. She is the winner of the second prize in a music festival, “Ohrid fest” organized in Macedonia, with participation from all Balkan countries and she dedicates her triumph to her voice, her love for music and her work.
Klajd Heta:- Driselda, hello! The readers of “Intervista” would like to know something more about you?
Driselda Kanina:- Hello! I am Driselda, and I am represented in the Albanian market with the aim of conveying as much emotion as possible to the listeners of my music. I just came back from a music festival, “Ohrid fest” or “Ohridski troubadour”, where I participated in the international night that was organized in Macedonia and I got the second prize, so I really like festivals, they make you very next to the public.
– To whom do you dedicate this award?
– To my voice, the love for music and the great and dedicated work I have towards it.
– Your participation in “Magic Song” last year was also very liked. How did you feel in relation to the stage and colleagues?
– Going to the festival was my first “meeting” with the public at such a big festival. I had a lot of emotions, but thankfully everything went well! I had good relations with the other singers. As for the voting part, everyone’s musical tastes are subjective.
– Are video clips a good advertisement for you?
– Of course yes. Today, a video clip is broadcast on a TV that can be found in a bar, an aesthetic center, but also the song itself taken from the video clip, takes place in different radio spaces, thus receiving attention from the first to the last.
– You have achieved a success and out of bounds. In which countries have you mostly sung?
…and I’m very happy about it! My main destination is the USA.
-Does the enthusiasm of Albanians feel outside the borders for Albanian music?
– Of course! Albanians who have left their country for various reasons, for a few moments “return” to their country through the sounds and the Albanian language.
– How important is Driselda’s appearance, if she were present at a concert?
– A lot, but this is only out of respect for the public who is there to listen to me.
– Your video clips are made and colorful. How much fatigue is “hidden” behind all this work?
– In my video clips, you work a lot and there is fatigue, but when you see a relatively successful result, you say that the fatigue was worth it!
– Do you know how to play any musical instrument? If not, are you stuck?
– I took some piano lessons, but I like the art as a whole and knowledge in every field of it, it wouldn’t be bad!
– As we mentioned above, you are a very active singer in the “live” performance scenes. How important is the collaboration between singers and orchestra members?
– It is important, because the instrumentalists and the singer must follow each other in parallel, and believe me it is not that simple!
– Are you inspired by someone for your stage appearance?
– On stage I am 100% Driselda!
– If you were not cut out to be a singer, what do you think you would like to do as a profession?
– I would be a very good make-up artist, aesthetics and hairdressing are also part of the art of beauty, so I believe I would be good in this field.
– What if you were given a second chance to reconsider your decision. Will you turn the music back on?
– A second, third, fourth and so on… YES! I see myself in the field of music for a long time, it’s what I do with a lot of love.
– Do you think that mixing the modern current with the popular current would bring something that would orient the new generation towards the latter?
– Popular music is a value and representation of Albanian culture, and despite the evolution of the times, the youth should be aware of Albanian cultural assets, why not and execute it?
– Regarding summer vacations… sea or mountain climate?
– Sea, absolutely sea. I love the calm that the sea creates.
– Does the fact that perhaps today’s music is more appreciated by the performer’s appearance, and not by the sounds he conveys to the audience, hinder you?
– A lot. The emotions conveyed by the music penetrate the soul, and it is inconceivable that a singer is judged by the way he dresses or looks.
